Andy Lau Tak-Wah in the Movies Industry...

Andy Lau Tak-Wah starred in his first movie in 1982 called §eⓒb≪a®u (Boat People). The movie was directed by Ann Hui, and the leading male actor was George Lam. Ann Hui originally asked Felix Wong to play the role, but he declined. So, Andy Lau Tak-Wah got the role instead. In 1983, he got his first leading role in ·´·A¸¹|a¨® (On the Wrong Track). Then, around 1986 Andy was "frozen" by TVB. TVB did not give him any roles in TV series. Luckily, Chow Yun-Fat helped him out, and Andy got roles in movies. This launched Andy Lau Tak-Wah's movie career. He starred in two movies with Chow Yun-Fat in 1987, |¿´o±¡ (Rich and Famous) and ^¶?|nº~ (Tragic Hero). Afterward, Andy Lau Tak-Wah left TVB in 1988 to pursue his acting career in the movies industry. Andy Lau Tak-Wah's movies did well in the box office, and he became instantly popular. He was also nominated for best actor that year for HK's Golden Statue Award in his role in Wong Ka-Wai's ⓒo¨¤¥dªu (As Tears Go By), which he starred with Maggie Cheung. Since 1982, Andy Lau Tak-Wah has made over 90 movies. His 1995 movie, ?P¤o¾O¨® (Full Throttle), made over 30 million in the HK box office and became Andy's #1 box office hit.
