Elva Siu

Elva Siu

Elva Siu who is also known as Elva Hsiao is a popular Chinese / Taiwanese Mandarin Pop Music Singer.

Elva Siu speaks and writes some English, as in her early life she lived in the British Columbian city of Vancouver in her High School Years. During her time in Vancouver, she attended a New Talent Singing Awards contest in Vancouver in 1998, under her birth name of Hsiao Ya-Chih. During that event she successfully became one of 12 finalist however she was not placed in the top 5. Elva Siu sang Coco Lee’s “Love me a while Longer”.

Elva Siu was signed to virgin Records Taiwan which is a sub division label of EMI records and it was them who created her name Elva Siu. In 1999 she released her debut album self titled “Elva”, which was so successful that it sold over 1 million copies in Asia and help to cement her place in the Chinese Music Industry.

In 2002, the sang a song “U make me wanna” with British boy bang blue for her album Love’s Theme Son, Kiss, however Elva parted company with Virgin Records in 2004.

In 2005 as Elva rested and took some time out from the industry, record companies were fighting for her with front runners Warner Music Taiwan and Sony BMG, with Warner Music finally winning the battle for her contract. This was set to make Elva their 5 th Diva after Sammi Cheng, A-Mei, Na Ying and Stefanie Sun. Elva’s fans were overjoyed and waited for the release of her next album in mid 2005.

However Warner Music Taiwan faced a year of turmoil in 2005 with a power struggle between executives resigning and changes in the member of staff setup. Artisit such as Sammi, AMei and F.I.R were affected due to the lack of promotion, and none faced more troubles than Elva Siu whose album was delayed from September, then October, Then November then Indefinately. This angered many of her fans who had been waiting for her album release for months.

In February 2006 after an interview with Warner Representatives, they announced that her album would be released in March that year. A few weeks after that interview, it was widely reported that company reshuffle would once again cause the album to be delayed.

After another year of turmoil with Warner Music Taiwan, Elva Siu switched back to EMI virgin Records which she described as going back home.
