13 November 2006 - CONFESSION OF PAIN
Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) in the Media Asia new film
CONFESSION OF PAIN (SEUNG SING) played a drunk detective. Due to a sad
experience for him the story often had a hint of sadness. However the set
itself was another matter. Although he and producer and director Andrew
Lau Wai Keung had quite an age difference, they got along famously. On
the set they were like big kids who often played pranks on each other.
One day the film shot a hospital scene at Cyberport. In it Gum
Sing Mo's girlfriend Emme Wong Yee Man was hospitalized after a suicide
attempt. He carried her and ran into the emergency room, but because of an
old wound when he walked he easily fell. Whenever he had to fall, Lau Wai
Keung joked, "Drop dead! Drop dead!" Later Gum Sing Mo asked Lau Wai
Keung about what he said in his half fluent Cantonese. Lau Wai Keung
responded in Mandarin that no one could understood. "I 'snow' that you
shouldn't walk like this! Not like this, understand?" Gum Sing Mo had a
seemingly understood but not expression. Wong Yee Man could not help but
laugh. Later this scene was shot from another angle. Lau Wai Keung even
daringly watched while saying "drop dead". Finally righteous Wong Yee Man
could not hep but lightly said to Gum Sing Mo. "Lau Wai Keung is pulling
a prank on you! What he said was a Cantonese slang, it is meant as a
curse." Gum Sing Mo expressed immediately in his half fluent Cantonese
that as soon as he saw the director's smug look he knew he was saying
"something bad".
