TAIPEI : Taiwanese actress Tiffany Hsu was shocked by boyfriend Ethan Ruan's hotel scandal but has chosen to stand by her man, Taiwan media reported.

On Sunday, Ruan was seen booking a suite and spending the night with a mystery woman at the Windsor Hotel Taichung.

The 27-year-old actor claimed that the woman was the girlfriend of a friend who joined them later that night. He pointed out that while he and the woman did stay in the same suite, they slept separately.

Though many are doubtful of his explanation, Hsu, 26, has chosen to believe her boyfriend.

"I have full trust in my relationship, I believe everything my boyfriend says," she told reporters as she left a Taipei restaurant after a shoot on Wednesday.

When asked if Ruan had cried over the incident, Hsu thought for a moment before replying, "Crying is not important. He should know what he needs to do."

It was reported that when Xu first learned about the scandal, she changed their relationship status on Facebook from "in a stable relationship" to "it's a long story".

Xu said through the head of her management company that "Ruan is too good to his friends, it can't be helped".

Ruan has shown great remorse since the incident and admitted, "I've done something that is truly very wrong. We will need time to mend the relationship.

"She's my everything. I will do whatever it takes [to mend the relationship]."
